Mr. Bruno Le Maire, Minister for Economy, Finance and Recovery at the Supervisory Ministry of Institut Mines-Télécom, has appointed Jacques Fayolle as Director of Mines Saint-Étienne by an order of March 23, 2022. He will take up his duties at the head of this Engineering Graduate School on May 1, 2022 for a five-year term.

As head of Mines Saint-Étienne School, his main missions will also be to develop and implement the school’s strategy, to contribute to the future 2030 Strategy of Institut Mines-Télécom and to its upcoming 2023-2028 Contract of Objectives and Performance. He will continue to grow the activities of the school, in particular to meet the expectations of companies and students in training, in support of Institut Mines-Télécom’s Mission Statement, “All together to imagine and build a sustainable future and to train its key stakeholders”. To achieve this growth, he will promote synergies with IMT’s other graduate schools and strategic partners. During his five-year term, he will also be responsible for strengthening the school’s position in the local ecosystems (Saint-Étienne / Lyon and Aix-en-Provence / Marseille ) and at the national and international level. In this respect, the experience he has acquired throughout his career in the management of international programs and projects, such as the mutual recognition agreement for engineering degrees between France and other countries, or training and research programs for the European Commission, will be invaluable to him.

Mines Saint-Étienne is ranked among the best engineering schools. I am very proud and honored to be at the helm of this fine school, whose actions are recognized by stakeholders in research and industry, especially for the industrial and ecological transitions. Mines Saint-Étienne has just joined the T.I.M.E. network for the top technological universities, and has been awarded its 6th ERC. Together with our teams, we will further strengthen Mines Saint-Étienne within Institut Mines-Télécom and with our local partners, to find new dynamics for development and growth concerning the health of the future, the industry of the future, and the digital dimension, particularly the IoT.
