As a world-class technological institute, IMT naturally takes part in major European programs such as Horizon 2020, the European Union research and innovation program.
Horizon Europe Projects
Horizon Europe is the EU framework program for research and innovation for 2021-2027. This new EU research and innovation project has a budget of around €95.5 billion for 2021-2027 and follows on from Horizon2020, which covered 2014-2020.
The Horizon Europe program aims to :
- Strengthen scientific and technological knowledge in the EU ;
- Boost competitiveness, including that of European industry ;
- Implement the EU’s strategic political priorities ;
- Tackle global challenges, including the Sustainable Development Goals.

These projects help strengthen ties between our laboratories and European industrial partners (SMEs, mid-caps and major groups) and academic partners (universities, research centers) and are key means of developing our research.
The aim is to develop the state of the art in science and technology in our respective areas of expertise.
The projects also contribute to industrial applications for our research, allowing the results to be disseminated in the framework of technology transfer to our private partners in France and Europe.

German-French Academy for the Industry of the Future
In 2015, as part of the partnership between the French Alliance for the Industry of the Future and the German Industry 4.0 platform, IMT and Technische Universität München (TUM) decided to create the German-French Academy for the Industry of the Future.
This academy “without walls” aims to promote the complementarity of French and German skills in training and research in the field of the Industry of the Future. It is open to further partnerships.
IMT’s participation in Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and European associations
IMT works with major French and European industrial players through European Public-Private Partnerships. It is particularly active in the following industrial associations :
- AI/ Big Data / Robotics (AI Data Robotics Association and partnership Ai Data Robotics),
- 6G and Networks (6G IA Association and partnership Smart Networks and Services)
- Cybersecurity and Semiconductors (AENAS , Inside Industry Association and partnership Key Digital Technology, European Cyber Security Organisation)
- Industry of the Future (European Factories of Future Research Association and partnership MadeInEurope).
- Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency (Sustainable Process Industry through Resource and Energy Efficiency and partnership Process4Planet)
