Funding research activities on forward-looking themes
The aim of the Futur & Ruptures (future and disruptive innovation) program is to finance preliminary research on forward-thinking topics within IMT. The program is jointly financed by Fondation Mines-Télécom and Télécom & Société Numérique Carnot Institute.
Its aim is to implement a long term vision and test out new scientific approaches to themes like the networks and media of the future, communicating objects or uses in digital life.
140 theses, of which 7 in the 2017 call for projects, and 64 short-term projects financed
Every year since 2008, a call for proposals is launched at the IMT laboratories, resulting in the selection of fifteen or so theses and ten or so “short projects” (post-docs, sabbaticals) per year. To date, the program has supported nearly 180 projects across the different fields of expertise linked to digital technology which the IMT has invested in.
Since 2012 IMT and the Fondation Mines-Télécom have organized an annual event for their “Futur & Ruptures” (future & disruptive technologies) research program, during which the results of PhD and post-doc theses are presented to the program’s financers. The next edition of this day was held on 30 March 2015.
