IMT awards the Bercy-IMT Grand Innovation Awards to two start-ups, Energysquare and Optiwaves, on the occasion of CES 2019 in Las Vegas
On November 13, 20 or so start-ups selected from the IMT schools’ incubators were examined by a panel of experts at the Bercy-IMT Innovation Awards at the French Ministry of Economy.
The two awards, worth €50k and €40k respectively with support from the Télécom & société numérique Carnot Institute and Fondation Mines-Télécom, were given to Energysquare and Optiwaves on January 8 during the French “Convergence Innovation Awards” evening. The event was organized by IMT, Business France, La Tribune and Le Village Francophone of CES and was attended by the entire French innovation ecosystem.
Fondation Mines-Télécom also awarded several Coup de Cœur (judges’ favorite) awards from 5 patrons (Bouygues Telecom, Deloitte, Engie, Safran and Wavestone).
The Innovation Prizes, financed by IMT, the Télécom & Société numérique Carnot Institute and Fondation Mines-Télécom, were awarded to two of the 20 start-up finalists of the Bercy-IMT Innovation Awards of November 2018:
First Prize of €50,000: Energysquare (energy) – www.energysquare.co
Incubator: Télécom Paris
Energysquare develops new wireless charging technology that works through contact. It allows multiple devices to be charged simultaneously on a surface, at high-power, with no electromagnetic waves or loss of energy.
Second Prize of €40,000: Opti’waves (health) – www.opti-waves.com
Incubator: Mines Saint Etienne
Opti’Waves develops and commercializes technology for sintering ceramics using microwaves. It is ten times faster than the technology currently present on the market and is used for the creation of dental prostheses.
Created in 2018, the Bercy-IMT Innovation Award aims to foster the growth of IMT’s most promising start-ups in all fields of major transformation in the 21st century.

Incubator: IMT Atlantique
Acklio develops software designed to facilitate and secure the development, integration and use of IoT deployments. Created in Rennes in 2016, the start-up is at the origin of a technology that allows emerging Internet of Things networks to use IP addresses. This technology, which is currently exclusive to Acklio, is due to be recognized as the international standard by the IETF.
