Industry of the future: the Franco-German Academy launches 7 new projects

,

After a call for projects launched by the Franco-German Academy among researchers at IMT and TUM (Technische Universität Munchen), seven projects were recently selected on the Academy’s key themes. In addition, a Franco-German platform on AI will soon be created.

The projects chosen cover the following six topics:

  • AI for the industry of the future,
  • Advanced manufacturing,
  • Advanced materials,
  • Supply chain and logistics,
  • Energy efficiency,
  • Industrial design and processes.

They will be financed by the Franco-German Academy for the industry of the future, founded by IMT and TUM, in the framework of an initial start-up phase.

For Christian Roux, Director of Research and Innovation at IMT, “the Franco-German Academy is broadening its field of exploration to provide solutions on strategic topics for the industry of the future, in order to support and accelerate the digital transformation of the French and German industrial fabric.”

A Franco-German platform on AI

TeraLab, IMT’s platform on artificial intelligence, and TUM will be working on the creation of a common AI platform. It will allow close collaboration between researchers from the two establishments and their industrial partners thanks to a shared access that also ensures data security. The project also offers the possibility for researchers to promote their work and results through the development of tools able to test the algorithms and datasets used. This secure, neutral and reliable service will facilitate the reproducibility of results in a shared framework of good practice.
