Philippe Jamet, new Director General of IMT from 15 July 2014
Appointed by decree of 23 June 2014 by the President of the Republic, Philippe Jamet, current Director of Mines Saint-Etienne, becomes Director General of IMT for a renewable period of four years. He will take office officially on July 15 2014.
This appointment follows the call for candidacies launched by the Ministry for Productive Recovery (the authority over the Institute) last February. Philippe Jamet was proposed by the Ministry for the Economy, Productive Recovery and the Digital Economy, and appointed by the President of the Republic with the approval of the Institute’s Board of Directors.
Brief biography
Philippe Jamet is an Ecole des Mines civil engineer (Paris,1984) with a PhD in quantitative hydrology and hydrogeology from the same school (1991). He obtained his HDR (authorization to supervise research) from the University of Paris VI in 1999. He currently teaches a special class at IMT and has also been President of the Conference of Grandes Écoles since June 2013.
Having started his career with the Compagnie Générale des Eaux, Philippe Jamet worked as a Professor at Mines ParisTech until 2004, when he went to Washington DC to work as the Science And Technology Attaché in the French Embassy to the United States. He was Director of Mines Saint-Etienne from 2008.
