A partner of JEC World 2019, IMT will host the “Composites in Action” space dedicated to 3D printing composites from 12 to 14 March
3D printing is now easily accessible both in terms of availability of machines and cost. How can these 3D printers be used in industrial applications? To answer the question, IMT will propose a “Composites in Action” space dedicated to “3D printing Composites“ at the JEC World 2019 show. The space will be hosted in collaboration with Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt (DLR) and is sponsored by Thermwood.
A new feature at JEC World in 2019, the “Additive Manufacturing Village” will propose demonstrations, parts, videos and conferences on the subject of polymer and polymer composite additive manufacturing, and will show the diversity of the work at IMT in this field.
At its stand (no. 90, aisle Q, Hall 5A), IMT will present parts in action and provide an overview of existing uses and possibilities with machines for “the general public” such as Makerbot and Ultimaker, as well as more professional models like Markforged and 3NTR.
Researchers from IMT schools (IMT Lille Douai, IMT Mines Albi, IMT Mines Alès and Mines ParisTech) will also be at the stand with videos illustrating current developments in the field of polymer and composite additive manufacturing (for example: “Additive manufacturing: from shaping to properties via microstructure”). They will be leading several mini-conferences on topics such as “Fire-resistant plastics in 3d printing” and “Modelling of polymer deposition during Fused Filament Fabrication.”
In particular, IMT Lille Douai will present its LASCALA platform (LArge SCAle plAstics and composites 3D printing) which allows flexible production of large objects (up to 5m x 2m x 1m) and Mines Paris Tech will propose a demonstration of Cold Spray projection on composite substrate.
