On 23 January, IMT took part in the official inauguration of the Alpha Cluster in Sophia Antipolis, a new 8,500 m² facility dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship and digital technologies. This strategic hub brings together researchers, students, start-ups, incubators and institutional partners to address the major challenges of the digital transformation.

Alongside its subsidiary school EURECOM, IMT is fully committed to this ambitious project, which strengthens the links between education, cutting-edge research and industrial innovation, while contributing to national and European digital sovereignty.

A stronger foundation for research and education in digital sciences

Located at the foot of EURECOM’s historic building, the Alpha Centre provides more than 800 m² of offices for researchers and practical work rooms. It supports the development of academic and scientific activities led by EURECOM and IMT.

This new environment fosters collaboration between students, faculty members and industrial partners in strategic fields such as future networks (XG/6G), cybersecurity, data science and artificial intelligence — areas that are central to IMT’s commitment to shaping major digital transformations.

A future AI Centre to accelerate innovation in artificial intelligence

Within the Alpha Cluster, IMT and EURECOM are preparing to open the EURECOM AI Centre, a new centre dedicated to artificial intelligence. It will strengthen synergies between research, education and technological innovation.

The centre will rely in particular on CIRCALIS, an advanced computing infrastructure dedicated to AI experimentation. It will accelerate research and innovation in key areas of digital sciences, including future communications (XG/6G), cybersecurity, autonomous systems, data science, machine learning and quantum technologies.

It will also open up new institutional and industrial partnerships, in close cooperation with the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, reinforcing IMT’s role as a catalyst for responsible and sovereign digital innovation.

Entrepreneurship, cybersecurity and digital sovereignty

The Alpha Cluster will also host TechForward, l’incubateur commun porté par EURECOM, l’Institut Mines-Télécom et l’EDHEC Business School. This initiative supports high-impact technological projects in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and blockchain, in close interaction with research and education.

In addition, EURECOM and IMT are members of Cyber Campus, recognised as a regional catalyst for cybersecurity. This collective dynamic strengthens local and national digital sovereignty, while promoting the region’s scientific excellence and industrial development.

A new hub for innovation in Sophia Antipolis

With the Alpha Cluster, IMT reaffirms its commitment to responsible innovation, rooted in regional ecosystems and connected to major scientific, industrial and societal challenges.

This new hub embodies a shared ambition: to position Sophia Antipolis as a leading centre for digital innovation with strong national and European impact — shaping major transformations together.
