IMT is a French Federal Institute of Technological Universities of science and management

As a national public institution of higher education and research, IMT brings together a community of Technological Universities united by a shared vision. Our governance ensures strategic coherence across the network while preserving the identity and autonomy of each school. It is structured around collaborative leadership and strong ties with public, academic, and industrial partners.

A shared leadership model

IMT is a public institution of a scientific, cultural, and professional nature, comprising eight public Technological Universities and two affiliated schools. It fosters and develops a vibrant ecosystem of economic, academic, and institutional partners—key players in education, research, and economic development.
The institution is led by Executive President Cécile Dubarry.

  • Chaired by IMT Executive President, brings together the heads of IMT’s Technological Universities. It defines the institution’s collective strategic directions and strengthens cohesion across the network. Directors from the affiliated schools and key figures from IMT’s strategy and communication teams also participate in this body.

    Each Technological University retains its own governance and operational autonomy.

  • The Executive Committee of the General Management supports Cécile Dubarry, IMT Executive President, in steering the institution’s strategic direction. It prepares the work of the Collegium and plays a key role in implementing IMT’s major strategic orientations by aligning priorities set by the supervisory ministry with the initiatives driven by the Technological Universities.

    Comprising a compact team of experienced professionals, the CoDir embodies both strategic and operational leadership at IMT. Alongside the Executive President, it includes:

  • At the national level, General Management embodies IMT’s strategic leadership. Reporting directly to Executive President Cécile Dubarry, this body plays a pivotal role in crafting, coordinating, and executing IMT’s institutional strategy. It ensures full alignment between the actions of IMT’s Technological Universities and the directives set by the supervisory authority as well as the Board of Directors.

  • The Board of Directors is composed of 25 members. Its Chair is appointed by government decree, based on the recommendation of the Ministers in charge of Industry and Electronic Communications. The appointment is for a renewable four‑year term and is drawn from among distinguished external professionals.

  • The composition of IMT’s Scientific Advisory Board reflects the scale of the scientific themes addressed and the wide-ranging nature of the institute’s research and innovation remit. Its members examine and analyze strategic priorities, relevant topics, skills, results and recommendations following IMT’s major thematic symposiums.

    Its role is to offer the viewpoint of businesses and the academic world.

    The aim is to involve companies that have a global vision of the economy, markets, technologies and society at large and to take on board the analysis of researchers from international universities and research centers.

    Qualified individuals also sit on the Board to provide their experience and widely acknowledged expertise.
