PGU MEDTEC is a start-up incubated at Télécom Paris. Its mission? To bring the precision of Industry 4.0 to the study and modeling of the human body.
We spoke with Matthias Pideri, co-founder of the company.

What is your project about?

At PGU MEDTEC, we’re developing a design and application software—a human digital twin designer—to create virtual human models and digital twins for use in orthopedics, animation, and industrial applications.

How is the IMT incubator network supporting your project?

Through IMT’s support, we’ve been able to access early-stage funding, secure our first clients, and deepen our understanding of entrepreneurship in digital deeptech.

Good to know: Honor Loans—A Key Lever for Early-Stage Growth

Offered via the Mines-Télécom Foundation, these honor loans help secure the critical early stages of project development—when start-ups often face the greatest difficulties accessing capital.

As a complement to regional funding programs, they serve as a vital lever to help high-tech projects reach their first major milestones.

Any advice for those considering the entrepreneurial leap?

  • For recent graduates: if you’re not launching a spin-off, don’t dive straight into deeptech.
  • Prioritize the product over the technology. A real product is a prototype that can be easily replicated or industrialized at scale—and comes with the required certifications to enter the market.
  • Understand TRL and CRL maturity scales and your industry’s prototyping benchmarks.
  • If possible, begin developing your product before graduating, and think about ways to generate revenue while the product is still in development—or work in the sector first to gain practical experience before starting your venture.
