[Testimonial] A look back at Clotilde’s journey – engineering student at IMT Nord Europe and #IMTAmbassador

“I’d like to take a moment to reflect on an experience that had a profound impact on me this year. In October 2024, four fellow students from IMT Nord Europe and I joined the Ambassadrices programme, led by IMT and the Mines-Télécom Foundation.”

A transformative journey : connecting with youth to inspire and empower

Our mission:

To engage directly with middle and high school students, promoting science and engineering—and above all, encouraging young girls to see themselves in fields still too often viewed as male-dominated.

For us, going back to where it all begins—schools—was essential. To better understand what holds ambition back, and to share tools, examples, and confidence to help unlock potential.

Practical and inspiring workshops

Together with my classmates, we designed fun and educational workshops covering various aspects of the engineering profession: project management, construction, creating innovative products, and more.

We also highlighted women scientists, past and present, with inspiring and varied careers.

But beyond the activities, each presentation opened up discussion. Career guidance, doubts, ambitions: these exchanges with the students were rich, touching, and sometimes moving.

A measurable impact

The results :

  • More than 850 students met, including 406 girls
  • In middle schools and high schools in the Hauts-de-France and Île-de-France regions

And a strong message conveyed to each and every one:

No matter where you come from, your gender or your hesitations. Try. Be curious. Dare. No barrier should hold back your dreams.

Reaching beyond schools

Our commitment did not stop at interventions:

  • Article in La Voix du Nord (Douai)
  • Nomination for the CDEFI’s Ingénieuses competition, in the School Award category
  • Participation in the WOMEN IN STEM EUROPE event in Lille on 17 June to share our experience. Thank you to Lena Touchard and Angélique Gérard for their invitation and their commitment to this wonderful programme.

Thank you for this human adventure

This project would never have seen the light of day without the support of Amielle Dusengimana, Leroy Sabine, and IMT Nord Europe.

And above all, thank you to my wonderful colleagues, who have become friends : Laman, Rayann Chérif Coulibaly, Adam Voiseux, Wième Matoussi, Briana Yadjam. Thank you for your energy, your commitment, and your friendship.

A page is turning… but the commitment continues

This adventure is coming to an end, but my commitment is only growing stronger.
