Promoting diversity in science and technology and highlighting committed career paths

On Thursday, 15 May, the Ingénieuses 2025 awards ceremony took place at the MEDEF headquarters in Paris.

As every year, this afternoon celebrated female talent in engineering through inspiring testimonials, meaningful projects and exceptional career paths.

The introduction provided an opportunity for several powerful messages in favour of a more inclusive engineering sector, offering a promising future for all:

  • Philippe Baptiste, Minister for Higher Education and Research : “The place of women in science is a question of equality, morality and justice. France needs scientists and engineers to rebuild an innovative, efficient and sustainable industry that serves our sovereignty.”
  • Patrick Martin, President of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France : “At MEDEF, our priority issue is skills. The attractiveness and feminisation of scientific fields is a key issue, which is crucial for Europe’s prosperity.”
  • Emmanuel Duflos, President of the CDEFI : “The under-representation of women in STEM is not due to a lack of interest or a skills deficit, but rather to gender bias.”

Alizée Mesnard, nominated engineering student 2025

An engineering student at Télécom SudParis, Alizée Mesnard is fully committed to combining technology, energy transition and social engagement! Specialising in data science applied to energy flexibility, she campaigns for a low-carbon future through her work with the Shifters, her advocacy for equal opportunities, and her entrepreneurial project.

Passionate, committed and focused on making an impact, she embodies a new generation of engineers who are aware of the challenges of their time.

The “IMT Ambassadors” project, led by IMT Nord Europe

In France, engineering schools have an average of only 26% female engineering students. In response, the Institut Mines-Télécom and the Fondation Mines-Télécom have created a training and awareness programme : after several immersive weekends and coaching workshops, IMT students who have become ambassadors go out into the field, to middle and high schools in the region, to promote and encourage engineering careers among future generations.

In 2023, 38 IMT students raised awareness among nearly 1,380 middle and high school students. This year, 55 committed students joined the programme !

This year, among the IMT Ambassadors, five engineering students from IMT Nord Europe made it their main focus, supported and accompanied by their school. They developed three original, interactive and fun activities to spark students’ curiosity, which were presented in seven schools, reaching 615 students, including 260 girls!

Congratulations to Alizée and the entire team behind the “IMT Ambassadors” project for their commitment!
