On 3 and 4 December 2025, the IMT Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence scientific community — led by Sébastien Harispe (IMT Mines Alès) and Samir Loudni (IMT Atlantique) — organised a strategic seminar on the Évry campus of Institut Mines-Télécom Business School. Hosted by Nicolas Soulié, Deputy Director of the Data Analytics, Economics and Finance Department (DEFI) at Institut Mines-Télécom Business School, the seminar brought together experienced researchers working on operational business challenges, with the aim of strengthening ties between academic and industrial stakeholders and creating new opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI).

The event opened with a review of the actions carried out across the community’s six key focus areas:

  • Data ecosystem
  • Hybrid AI
  • Embedded and distributed AI
  • AI & Humans
  • Frugal AI
  • Ethical and responsible AI

Greater openness towards businesses

In connection with the MACMIA project, several companies developing or deploying AI solutions — AMICS, Assystem, Carrefour, Cisco et Saint-Gobain — were invited to share their needs, the technological challenges they face and the transformations underway in their sectors.

A workshop led by Loubna Sallak (Cap Digital), et de Monika Jo (IMT) identified shared challenges related to digital skills and concrete avenues for cooperation. These discussions continued during a round table co-hosted by Jean-Christophe Baudez, Managing Director of the CIMES competitiveness cluster and Yolima Fauchet (IMT), providing a valuable forum to explore potential partnerships.

In the same spirit of openness, several academic partners, including ESIGELEC and Université de technologie de Troyes, also took an active part in the discussions.

Internal workshops to stimulate scientific synergies

The second day was dedicated to internal workshops designed to enhance awareness of individual areas of expertise, strengthen collaboration between teams and identify synergies that remain underexploited. Four cross-cutting themes were explored:

  • AI & disinformation
  • AI & health
  • AI, networks & connected objects
  • Decarbonisation of AI

These discussions contributed to the development of structuring projects, particularly with a view to preparing new European initiatives.

A highlight for the scientific community

This seminar marks an important step in structuring the IMT community around AI and data analytics. By bringing together scientific expertise and the operational needs of businesses, IMT is reinforcing its capacity to develop ambitious collaborative projects aligned with current socio-economic challenges.
