Are you a student (2A/3A/PhD) at an IMT school and enjoy tackling real-world sustainable innovation challenges set by companies?
Take part in the Convergence Challenge from 23 to 26 October 2025 in Sète and propose innovative solutions that address the challenges of ecological transition!
Heading to Occitanie for the 2025 Convergence Challenge!
From 23 to 26 October, head to the Sète region, an area focused on the sea and sustainable innovation.
This edition of the Convergence Challenge will highlight issues such as marine biodiversity, resource management, low-impact and circular technologies, and more.
Four days in the heart of an inspiring region, working with local stakeholders and committed businesses to come up with solutions for a sustainable future as a team!
Sea, Sea Tech & Blue Economy
Faced with the climate emergency and the necessary transition of our models, coastal areas are becoming essential laboratories for innovation.
The sea, in all its complexity and richness, is now at the heart of issues relating to ecological resilience, energy sovereignty, biodiversity preservation, and the reinvention of economic, social and cultural uses.
Sea Tech embodies this new generation of sustainable, bio-inspired, intelligent marine technologies used for resource management, coastal protection, decarbonisation of maritime transport and the coexistence of marine energy and traditional activities.
The blue economy, meanwhile, takes an integrated approach: developing sustainable maritime activities that create jobs and respect ecosystems, at the crossroads of innovation, land use planning and local expertise.
This theme resonates strongly with the dynamics driven by the Occitanie region:
- Deployment of marine renewable energy
- Adaptation of coastal cities to coastal erosion
- Support for small-scale fishing and the resilience of coastal ecosystems
- Development of ecotourism and promotion of marine heritage
It is in this context that the Convergence 2025 Challenge has been launched, inviting students to collectively tackle concrete challenges proposed by committed partners and to imagine together a more sustainable maritime future.
An IMT event combining training, innovation and immersion
The Institut Mines-Télécom Convergence Challenge was tailor-made in 2022 by the IMT incubator network to enable engineering and management students to innovate by integrating a strong sustainability approach to business issues.
- Innovation : carbon neutrality, biodiversity, circular economy, low-tech, cognitive sciences… Innovate by integrating a strong, local sustainability approach.
- Training : a programme punctuated by educational highlights and support from experts from the professional world.
- Immersion : for 72 hours, join a cross-disciplinary project team and experience collective intelligence. An intense and stimulating marathon to bring your idea to life!

The 2025 edition of the Convergence Challenge is an event organised by the Institut Mines-Télécom, leader of the Carnot TSN, sponsor of the project, in partnership with committed local stakeholders: Airbus, Ifremer, the Development and Transition Agency, the Blue | Invest in Sète Cap d’Agde Méditerranée and Sète Agglopôle Méditerranée attractiveness agency.
