Lucie Jacquet-Malo joined Institut Mines-Télécom on September 1, 2025, as the coordinator of its dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) program.
A cross-functional role to structure and promote AI initiatives
Reporting to Executive President Cécile Dubarry, the new AI Program Coordinator will be responsible for uniting and highlighting the experiments carried out across IMT’s Technological Universities in the field of artificial intelligence. Lucie Jacquet-Malo will help create an agile and coherent framework, open up new partnership opportunities, and contribute to preparing IMT’s future AI roadmap.
This appointment follows the “Mines-Télécom Days” held last May in Évry, organized by François Dellacherie, Dean of Télécom SudParis, and Herbert Castéran, Dean of Institut Mines-Télécom Business School. These Days brought together staff from all Technological Universities and IMT’s central office around the theme “Artificial Intelligence across all disciplines.”
They provided an opportunity to share existing initiatives in education, research, and institutional support across IMT. Discussions emphasized the importance of focusing IMT’s AI strategy on sovereignty and sustainability.
A background rooted in mathematics and AI
An agrégée in mathematics and PhD graduate from the University of Picardie Jules Verne, Lucie Jacquet-Malo served from 2022 to 2024 as advisor to the President of the University of Picardie Jules Verne—first as policy lead, then as Scientific Coordinator of the DemoES project under the France 2030 initiative. In 2025, she represented the DemoES-awarded institutions at the Global Summit on AI Action with the “AI Convergence” challenge: using AI to enhance educational performance.
She initiated the Alliance between Mistral AI, EdTech France, and 36 higher education institutions.
Since April 2025, Lucie Jacquet-Malo has served as project lead for sovereign generative AI for higher education and research institutions, on behalf of AMUE (Agency for Shared University Services) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
“Leading IMT’s AI Program means building on the collective strength of its Technological Universities to drive a national momentum toward sovereign, sustainable, and use-driven artificial intelligence. This mission aligns with IMT’s strategic ambition to respond—through science and education—to the major transitions of our time.” — Lucie Jacquet-Malo, Coordinator of the IMT AI Program.
