The focus: the sea, sea tech, and the blue economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Backed by partners and sponsors \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/airbusgroup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Airbus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/ifremer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ifremer<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/agence-de-d-veloppement-et-des-transitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agence des Transitions<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/investinblue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blue | Invest in S\u00e8te Cap d\u2019Agde M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/sete-agglopole-mediterranee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S\u00e8te Agglop\u00f4le M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/a>, VINCI and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnot-tsn.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnot Institute TSN<\/a> \u2013 the event invited students to tackle <strong>six real-world challenges<\/strong> <strong>proposed by local companies and organizations, grouped<\/strong> under three strategic themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Circular economy and resource regions are on the frontlines. She spoke alongside <strong>Isabelle Spiegel<\/strong>, Environment Director and Executive Committee member at VINCI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTransitions now unfold in under a decade. Your profession will be in constant flux. Keeping a mindset of curiosity and entrepreneurship will be absolutely essential,\u201d noted <strong>Isabelle Spiegel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:56px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Territory as a Living Lab for Transition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Hosted at the Ifremer research center, participants explored the <strong>Thau Basin<\/strong> \u2013 a unique lagoon ecosystem in Europe where fishing, shellfish farming, tourism, port operations and maritime innovation coexist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe sea is our horizon, a vital resource and a lever for the future.<strong> Our region is neither a metropolis nor a rural area<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>it\u2019s the ideal scale for experimenting, responding and innovating<\/strong>,\u201d explained <strong>Jean-Guy Majourel<\/strong>, Vice President of S\u00e8te Agglop\u00f4le M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e, in his opening address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Local voices \u2013<strong> Maria Ruyssen<\/strong> (Ifremer), <strong>Herv\u00e9 Marqu\u00e8s<\/strong> (Mayor of S\u00e8te) and <strong>Alex Larue<\/strong> (Agence des Transitions) \u2013 all highlighted the territorial grounding of the challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn this IMT Challenge, I see both the macro and the micro. And it\u2019s the micro that speaks to me \u2013 because here, in S\u00e8te, it\u2019s real. class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blending Immersion, Learning and Innovation<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Launched in 2022 by IMT\u2019s incubator network, the Challenge Convergence was custom-designed to equip <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imt.fr\/en\/let-s-commit-together\/training-for-tomorrows-skills\/\">engineering and management students<\/a> <strong>with the tools to innovate while embracing a strong sustainability approach in response to real-world business challenges<\/strong>.<br><br>The program offers a high-impact, immersive experience that combines territorial engagement, applied learning and responsible innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Essential Insights to Understand, Anticipate and Navigate Transitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the contextual briefings provided by local stakeholders, participants attended a series of thematic talks woven throughout the program :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Guillaume Junqua<\/strong>, researcher and lecturer at IMT Mines Al\u00e8s, spoke about the rebound effect and the systemic limitations of the circular economy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Alice Hausser<\/strong>, sector lead for Oc\u00e9lian at VINCI Construction, introduced participants to the challenges of preserving the water cycle and related infrastructure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Explore Jourdain Foundation<\/strong>, an organization specializing in low-tech approaches, shared insights from its Kosmos project, highlighting how citizen science can serve biodiversity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Miguel Lopez Ferber<\/strong>, researcher and lecturer at IMT Mines Al\u00e8s, presented the \u201cAvoid\u2013Reduce\u2013Offset\u2013Adapt\u201d framework for addressing carbon-related impacts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maria Ruyssen<\/strong>, Director of the Ifremer station, led a talk on working on solutions to reduce river pollution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blue Thau Lab<\/strong> organized a visit to a local oyster farm that could benefit from their future low-tech monitoring solution for sustainable marine aquaculture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lineup Ocean<\/strong> took students to the S\u00e8te coastline to explore the impacts of shoreline retreat and beach erosion,
