It becomes a tool to stimulate creativity, support innovation and drive social progress.\u201d<\/strong><br>\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imt.fr\/en\/imt-en-news-lucie-jacquet-malo-ia-programme-coordinator\/\"> <em>Lucie Jacquet-Malo<\/em><\/a><em>, Coordinator of the AI Program at IMT<\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From October 3 to 13, <a href=\"http:\/\/Port\u00e9es par cette approche, les huit \u00e9coles de l\u2019Institut Mines-T\u00e9l\u00e9com se sont mobilis\u00e9es du 3 au 13 octobre pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer la 35e \u00e9dition de la F\u00eate de la Science, plac\u00e9e cette ann\u00e9e sous le th\u00e8me des \u00ab\u00a0Intelligence(s)\u00a0\u00bb.\">the eight Technological Universities of IMT<\/a> came together to celebrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.education.gouv.fr\/la-fete-de-la-science-12287\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 35th edition of F\u00eate de la Science<\/a>, themed this year around <strong>\u201cIntelligence(s)\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Launched in 1991 by the French Ministry of Higher Education, F\u00eate de la Science invites curious minds to discover the world of science through conferences, workshops, exhibitions, performances and open days \u2014 throughout France.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ten Days of Discovery: Exploring Intelligence(s)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Across IMT campuses and laboratories, a wide range of formats\u2014hands-on workshops, talks, exhibitions and demos\u2014brought science to life. These initiatives aimed to spark curiosity, foster dialogue, and showcase how diverse forms of intelligence contribute to science and society alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Immersive Workshops: Learning by Doing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From powders to algorithms, 3D printing to virtual reality, the experiential approach prevailed\u2014<strong>empowering participants, especially young learners, to simulate, model, and experiment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IMT Nord Europe<\/strong> welcomed middle and high school students to explore AI as a driver of human progress through six hands-on workshops: from generative design and fluid dynamics to pollution detection, robotics, connected insoles, and autonomous rail safety via the <em>Ecotrain<\/em> project\u2014alongside VR and serious games promoting learning by immersion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Albi<\/strong> emphasized materials and experimentation: pharmaceutical powders, liquid nitrogen, mathematical algorithms\u2014inviting students to observe phenomena and understand how research leads to real-world innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Atlantique<\/strong> introduced children to acoustics using the MERITE \u201cwild lutherie\u201d toolkit, and to algorithms via the Cubetto robot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Al\u00e8s<\/strong> explored computer vs. human vision and daily-use minerals. A Halloween-themed algorithmic challenge, led by PhD students, tasked students with optimizing trick-or-treat routes for maximum candy!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reaching Out: Science for Everyone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The F\u00eate de la Science was also an opportunity to strengthen local connections. Whether welcoming school groups or visiting classrooms, IMT&#8217;s Technological Universities shared the spirit of science across their territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Al\u00e8s\u2019 Science Campus<\/strong> hosted nearly 600 students\u2014from primary to high school\u2014for 20+ themed workshops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Albi<\/strong> welcomed over 300 students throughout the week for firsthand experiences of research in action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Atlantique<\/strong> brought science into schools, including a class session on air pollution for a group of 5th-graders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Giving Science a Voice: Meeting the People Behind It<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Science thrives through exchange and curiosity. IMT\u2019s schools created meaningful encounters between researchers and the public:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At <strong>Brest\u2019s European Researchers\u2019 Night<\/strong>, IMT Atlantique hosted debates and direct conversations with scientists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At <strong>IMT Nord Europe<\/strong>, each AI workshop became an open dialogue where technical explanation met childlike wonder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At <strong>T\u00e9l\u00e9com SudParis<\/strong>, student members of the INTech robotics club led the \u201cFake Intelligences\u201d workshop during \u201cFabLabs en f\u00eate\u201d in \u00c9vry, introducing students to robotics and autonomous vehicles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the <strong>Saclay Plateau<\/strong>, <strong>T\u00e9l\u00e9com Paris<\/strong> joined the Paris-Saclay Science Village, hosted at \u00c9cole polytechnique\u2014offering a shared showcase of campus-wide science experiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sharing Ideas, Sparking Debate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some schools extended the conversation with participatory formats and thought-provoking content:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Al\u00e8s<\/strong> hosted a multidisciplinary talk, <em>\u201cThe Alchemy of AI,\u201d<\/em> blending science, history and imagination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Atlantique<\/strong> offered an interactive timeline on its evolution, and \u201cspeed searching\u201d events connecting AI to intercultural themes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IMT Mines Albi<\/strong> emphasized the porous boundaries between research, society and innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At <strong>Mines Saint-\u00c9tienne<\/strong>, the school\u2019s science culture center <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.larotonde-sciences.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/08\/programme-fete-de-la-science-2025-web.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">La Rotonde<\/a><\/em> led a rich, department-wide program of workshops, exhibitions and performances under the banner <em>\u201cIntelligence(s)\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Celebrating Science, Highlighting Engineering<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These initiatives illustrate the richness of the engineering mindset at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imt.fr\/en\/\">IMT<\/a>: creative and ethical thinking, environmental awareness, and technological innovation\u2014all in close relationship with society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also echo the spirit of France\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imt.fr\/en\/year-of-engineering-2025-2026-institut-mines-telecom\/\"> \u201cYear of Engineering,\u201d<\/a> spotlighting the commitment, scientific rigor and creativity of tomorrow\u2019s engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At IMT, we train the changemakers of a sustainable future.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By blending engineering, research and management, our Technological Universities prepare experts who design responsible, human-centered technologies.<br>Because intelligence also means knowing how to collaborate, share knowledge, and innovate together to
