LInstitut Mines-T\u00e9l\u00e9com is committed to bringing science to young people and the general public. Every year, our schools take part in Science Day and organize various events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, the 33rd<\/sup> edition will take place from October 7 to 14 on the theme of \u201cThe Ocean\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Discover the packed program at our schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Subatech<\/strong> laboratory will be at the Planetarium<\/strong> on the weekend of October 4 and 5<\/strong> with various activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The KM3NeT (Cubic KiloMetre Neutrino Telescope) project involves two gigantic neutrino telescopes being installed between 2,500 and 3,500 m below sea level in the Mediterranean. Its aim is to attempt to discover the properties of the most elusive of all known particles: the neutrino. Though Jules Verne traveled 20,000 leagues (80 km) under the sea to meet Captain Nemo, some neutrinos will have traveled hundreds of millions of light-years through space before interacting near the KM3NeT site…<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alongside the spark chamber, the cloud chamber, also known as a Wilson chamber, is the only device that can be used to detect cosmic rays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Radioactivity is all around us, in everyday objects and in the human body. What if we told you that sometimes, we even eat radioactive products? Use radiation probes to test different radioactive sources and assess the impact of radioactivity on humans. Find out more…<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Through the FabLab<\/strong>, the DELMA <\/strong>department is participating in the Brest Science Village coordinated by Oceanopolis<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n For the occasion, two stands<\/strong> will be set up on the two days aimed at schoolchildren<\/strong> (Thursday Oct 10 and Friday Oct 11):<\/p>\n\n\n\n IMT Mines Albi is opening the doors of its research laboratories, so that schoolchildren can learn about jobs in science and scientific research held by researchers, technicians and PhD students at IMT Mines, through original experiments and workshops<\/p>\n\n\n\n October 8<\/strong> is dedicated to primary school students, in partnership with the Tarn Department of Education, and includes a documentary screening and an escape game<\/strong> about scientific investigation. Find out more…<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n IMT Mines Al\u00e8s is organizing 14 events\/workshops\/conferences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Science Day 2024, IMT Nord Europe will be opening the doors of the Villeneuve d’Ascq campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the program:<\/p>\n\n\n\n From October 4 to 14,<\/strong> Mines Saint-\u00c9tienne and La Rotonde invite you to attend workshops, events, shows, lectures and exhibitions, all offered by museums, associations, scientific culture centers, higher education establishments, high schools, media libraries and cinemas. On October 3<\/strong>, the T\u00e9l\u00e9com SudParis FabLab is also contributing to Science Day events organized by the Net’Labs Innovation network, which brings together the FabLabs of Grand Paris Sud, with two associations from the school: Origin and INtech.
