In order to respond to major societal challenges, IMT devotes the research carried out by its schools to science and innovation and plays a leading role in the transitions underway in digital technology, energy/ecology, and industry.

More than 1,300 of the institute’s researchers and over of its 1,600 PhD students are working in the fields of digital technology, energy, materials, the environment, natural resources, economy, management, and human sciences.

Recognized at national, European, and international levels, the expertise of researchers from different disciplines converges through cross-department programs to advance research and propose innovations in fields such as health, smart, sustainable cities, transport, and industries of the future.
