IMT schools start the academic year on campus!

,

Students, faculty and administrative staff returned to their campuses for this new academic year with rooms filled to full capacity and compliant with protective measures. After the last academic year, everyone hopes to increase interactions and exchanges.

The schools remain aware of the unstable nature of the health context and have therefore planned for several scenarios: reducing attendance to 50% of room capacity, fully remote classes, co-modality and adapting teaching methods (such as flipped classrooms). Instructors are also encouraged to create short videos, dramatize courses, create shorter class sequences, and hold classes with reduced attendance… Some schools have decided to continue having faculty broadcast and record each class in order to facilitate a transition to a different teaching mode as needed.

International students return to campus

Unlike last year, most international students were able to travel to their campuses. Some had to isolate upon their arrival and a few Covid cases were detected but did not result in any clusters.

High vaccination rates among incoming students

The health pass was required for participation in integration trips organized by students. Surveys conducted among incoming students revealed vaccination rates of around 95%.

Successful recruitment by competitive exam and apprenticeship

The appeal of IMT schools resulted in a high quality of recruitment this year from the two post-preparatory class (CPGE) competitive exams: the joint Mines-Ponts exam and the joint Mines-Télécom exam.

The IMT Nord Europe post-secondary school program, which recruits from the GEIPI-Polytech post-secondary school competitive exam, grew significantly. The school took 1st place in the ranking.

The schools were also very pleased with their recruitment by apprenticeship, thanks to shared communication and recruitment mechanisms which were implemented in fully remote format this year (online forums, live sessions on social networks). They were also delighted to see that the apprentices did not encounter problems finding a company. Some even signed work-study contracts before the start of the academic year.

Finally, for the first time, IMT-BS welcomed students and student managers recruited by means of the joint Mines-Télécom competitive engineering exam.
