“Surfaces” | Exhibition by Marie Sommer and Vincent Voillat

Marie Sommer will present her research on invisible photographic spectra by juxtaposing photographic surfaces and minerals based on their shared inertia and reactivity. Through this process, she connects the discovery of radioactivity, the history of abandoned sites and the remembrance of battles with a narrative on minerals. In their nearly perceivable form, at the limit of invisibility, like the abandoned ruins, the stones become both source and end materials. In her goal to create an entirely mineral cosmology, she invited sculptor Vincent Voillat to work with her to develop a world where stones dwell alone and develop their own language in the heart of the collection of the Museum of Minerology of École des Mines de Paris.
