Quality Teaching
Entrepreneurship and innovation
IMT has chosen to make entrepreneurship and innovation two of its main priorities. All graduates should be able to imagine, design and implement new products, services or organizational methods, whether in an existing structure or by founding their own business.
IMT’s Technological Universities have put in place a wide variety of tools intended to foster awareness and encourage entrepreneurship, supporting students in their innovative business creation projects.
Each of our Technological University has as incubator on hand ready to support students from the initial idea phase through to the accomplishment of their project. Some of our incubators have become benchmarks in terms of digital and technological innovation in France.
- Students can complete internships within French or international businesses.
- 30% of our external professors come from the business world
Career Opportunities
IMT’s Technological Universities are renowned as offering among the highest graduate employability and salary rates in France.
Graduates can access all sectors, including digital technology, energy, civil engineering, construction, transport, aeronautics, industrial engineering, mechanics, publishing, luxury, and many more. They can then grow towards positions of responsibility. 90% of graduates are employed directly under an open-ended contract.
Faculty: Doctors or Professors
All professor-researchers at our schools have earned a PhD and 1/3 have achieved the status of Professor. They actively contribute to training future managers.
Business at the heart of IMT educational project
Training that meets the needs of businesses
Ever mindful of the needs of businesses, all our schools are developing close ties with various companies. To do this, they have adapted their teaching methods to corporate needs – the immediate and long-term employability of their graduates is a key focus. The direct employment rate is very high (over 80%) with a large percentage working in industry (70%) and significant proportion working in SMEs or midcaps (50%). The schools have also diversified their offering of initial and continuing training courses.
All IMT’s Technological Universities are involved in structuring projects, in particular in various competitiveness centers, business clusters, hubs, R&D platforms, scientific and excellence clusters, IRT and other associations that contribute to local economic development. Some schools have developed a business club, coordinate industrial networks, or are part of projects representing a cooperative model in terms of reindustrialization and territories. These initiatives aim to dovetail the synergies of higher education work-study courses and industrial activities in an innovative way and all on the same site.
In-company training courses
Over a third of the general training courses are dispensed within the companies, through internships, assignments or projects that are proposed by companies themselves. Certain Technological Universities also sign occupational training contracts for their final-year student engineers. The majority of schools quickly adopted the option of training through apprenticeships, with a significant increase in the number of apprentices. These training courses have sometimes been initiated in the framework of partnerships, again in response to identified industrial needs (market studies are often requested by regional councils); apprentices are placed in all kinds of businesses – midcaps, SMEs and micro-enterprises, usually regional.
Our creative graduates become business developers
Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the heart of our engineering teaching methods. Several of our educational activities aim to develop the entrepreneurial spirit in students, often backed by teams of incubators. The Technological Universities carry out projects with other universities in order to get their students’ creative juices flowing and to initiate them in the business start-ups, basing activities around mixed teams of managers and engineers.
Strong involvement in encouraging business creation
All IMT Technological Universities have an incubator. The incubators are a source of wealth in the regions and are supported by regional authorities (such as local councils, regional councils, European foundations, conurbations, etc.).
Training for the Industry of the Future
IMT’s Technological Universities are preparing for the professions of the future. They offer numerous training courses on the theme of the industry of the future.
An Alumni Network
IMT Technological Universities maintain close relations with their networks of alumni, in order to gain a clearer understanding of current professional occupations and labor market expectations. 60,000 alumni are present in all economic sectors.
IMT, a key player in economic development
IMT’s Technological Universities were founded in order to respond to the needs of the business world and to be explicitly committed to economic development. Making sure that our teaching methods, research and innovation are all interconnected is therefore crucial in responding to these needs.
Mobility at the heart of IMT
In the 3rd year of studies, there are 13 graduate schools to choose from. Engineering or management students at IMT schools can carry out six months of their studies in another school in the group, exploring in greater depth topics that aren’t offered by their campus, whilst remaining enrolled at their original school.
Multicultural Campuses
Geared towards international exchanges, IMT’s Technological Universities welcome around 33% international students from 60 different counties.
All technological universities strive to inspire a strong sense of international culture in their students, with a significant portion of the courses carried out abroad and the possibility offered of achieving a double degree. These graduates will therefore be able to support the international development of the businesses which go on to hire them.
Technological Universities adapted to individuals
Our Technological Universities offer the possibility of taking an engineering or management course whilst also being an apprentice or pursuing studies in the context of a continuing education degree course.
Our Technological Universities have a high rate of scholarships. Financial assistance is awarded each year in different ways. All our Technological Universities are involved in gender equality programs.
